HG26: How to Be Creative Tonight (Even With No Skills)

8 chords.

All 2-finger chords.

All go well together.

How could we possibly ask for more?

Plus, they offer a huge creative potential.

This beginner lesson features…

… 2-finger chords in G.

… An application of these chords.

… Fingerpicking & strumming.

You can download the tabs by clicking here (search for ‘HG26 – How to Be Creative Tonight (Even With No Skills)’).

Download it. Print it. Use it.

In this video, you can listen to it, you can watch me play it, and I’ll teach you through it:

And here is everything else you need to know. Enjoy!

📈 Difficulty

1/10 (This gives you a rough idea of how difficult it is. If you feel it’s actually easier, great. If not, don’t feel bad.)

⏰ Time Estimation

2 Hours (This is a rough estimation that can vary widely. If you’re faster, great. If not, don’t feel bad.)

💪 Action Steps

  1. Get comfortable playing and memorizing the chords on frets 3 5 7 8 10 12 14 & 15.

  2. Practice the 1st section of the application.

  3. Practice the 2nd section (the strumming bit) of the application.

  4. Practice the 3rd section of the application.

  5. Put everything together and play the entire piece.

  6. Create your own music using these chords.

✏️ Extra Tips

  • If you can’t reach frets 14 & 15, don’t worry. A good replacement are frets 2 & 3.

  • On all these chords, keep your middle finger (the one on the thickest string) flat to mute the A string (the 2nd thickest). It doesn’t belong to the chords. We don’t want to hear it.

🎯 Encouragement

These chords are super easy to play (yet do they sound great). They’re great to get creative with as you only need to move them around the fretboard. Have fun with it!

Who Is This Guy?

Hi, I’m Florian,

Just a passionate guitarist since 2004, with (almost) two decades of teaching experience and two degrees in music education.

I’m the go-to guy for guitar players who…

Feel trapped in a loop of tutorials, courses, and gear, yet still sound the same as they did a year ago.

… Want to fully understand and master the guitar but don’t know where to start.

Realize it’s time to stop struggling alone and start making meaningful progress.

Since 2007, I’ve empowered guitar players to turn challenges into victories, giving them the tools to play freely and creatively—and ultimately, fall back in love with their guitar.

Still loving it!
